since I didn't take any pictures of the paint can from our mini class,
Sue took a couple for me.
all you need is (1) gallon empty paint can, (1) 1/2 gallon, (1) roll of toilet paper and rubbing alcohol. Place the roll of toilet paper in the 1/2 gallon can and pour in rubbing alcohol. Place the smaller can inside the larger one and light the toilet paper with a match or lighter. TA DA...you can now cook you up some grub!
On the 5th of August we held a mini class to teach outdoor cooking using pie irons and an empty paint can. We played a couple of ice breaker games at the beginning and then we made our own personal pie iron pizza's, pie's and ate chocolate pudding cooked on the paint can (wink, wink)!! It was a lot of fun and the food was yummy!
build your food storage - ONE WEEK AT A TIME
THE PLAN
1) each week, add items to your regular grocery list
2) get a marker for marking dates on items to aid in rotation
3) buy the largest amount you can SENSIBLY afford. It is better to buy a little and get started with your food storage program than to go in debt or put off any progress until you can afford to buy the whole year's supply at one time
4) replace items as you use them. Remember....these items are IN ADDITION to your regular grocery list
5) watch for sales or other specials. Grocery stores don't always have the best buys
6) if you miss a week, skip to the next week's list of items. Don't get behind.
7) share your "hot buys" and bargains with others
